The First Treetop Walkway, Bavarian Forest National Park

The first and longest treetop walkway with a length of 1,300 meters welcomed its first visitors in September 2009. Wandering above the ground at a height ranging from 8 to 25 meters, exploring unspoiled and virgin nature. The Treetop Walkway in the National Park of Bavarian Forest enables you to enjoy an unforgettable view from an unusual perspective.

The access path to this largest park of its kind in the world is situated at the car park right next to forest enclosures. The boarding tower is equipped with a lift which provides comfortable and barrier-free access to seniors, disabled visitors on wheelchairs and also families with prams.

Walking on the footbridge made of wood, which is carefully embedded in the forest composed of both coniferous and deciduous trees, every visitor can experience a real enjoyment of nature. This simply magnificent moment is even more intense thanks to the use of special markers and panels, challenging your knowledge and sense of orientation, which are spread all along the walkway. Only here you will get familiar with the unforgettable local nature and its various life forms from a new angle.

The 1,300-meter-long foot bridge culminates with a 44-meter-high observation tower offering a simply fantastic and almost unlimited view: of the unpopulated area of the forest wilderness towards the top called Luzný; of the carefully cultivated cultural landscape of the Bavarian Forest with the Alps on the horizon.

The treetop walkway descends at Hans Eisenmann´s house where the tourist information centre is situated.

In the vicinity of “the Treetop Walkway“ the area of forest animal reserves can be found. In the diverse forest landscape of the National Park 16 large enclosures were established. These were connected to the compound of animal runs in the centre of the Luzný National Park. Currently, you can spot there 36 various species of birds and mammals.

The Treetop Walkway on an Island in the Baltic Sea

A new natural entertainment park established on Rügen Island welcomed its first visitors in June 2013. The third Treetop Walkway with an interactive exhibition and exquisite gastronomy is a new attraction on this well-known island in the Baltic Sea. The total length of the walkway is 1,250m and the height of the eagle nest reaches 40m.

Our adult and little visitors will encounter new and rather unusual perceptions and experiences: such as reaching the treetops of old oaks on the barrier-free walkway, setting off on a guided tour to visit the famous flint fields or visiting two interesting exhibitions.

The observation tower, designed in the form of an eagle nest, is situated at a height of 40 meters and represents the absolute top of this walkway. The altitude of 82 meters above sea level offers a splendid view of the unique landscape of the Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea. If you are lucky, you might spot a sea eagle soaring above the sea and the country. After this exciting trip, you are welcome to taste the local cuisine with its typical dishes or try some lovely food from the seasonal products at the „Boonhus“ Restaurant.

The Black Forest Treetop Walk

The Black Forest Treetop Walkway enables you to experience the forest from an entirely new perspective. With a total length of 1.250 meters and a height of up to 20 meters above the forest ground, the path winds its way through the beech trees, firs and spruces of the impressive mixed mountain woodland up to the Sommerberg Mountain. The highlight of the treetop walkway, which was first opened in September 2014, is a 40-metres-high view tower with a view platform. Once you get there, you are rewarded with a unique view of the whole Black Forest Mountains (Schwarzwald). Thanks to the fact that the walkway is completely barrier-free, it is suitable for visitors of all ages, it is easily accessible for wheelchairs and young families with prams.

Natural material used for its construction makes you experience the surrounding nature in a completely different way. Discover little animals, birds, insects and numerous plants on various levels of the walkway. You have the possibility to observe them from an entirely new perspective. Pleasant routing of the walkway at its constant ascent make you feel like floating high above the forest ground.

Along the whole path, there are small balconies with didactic stops informing the visitors about the local nature and wildlife, so you may learn a lot of interesting facts too. But fun does not come short either. For a change, there are little side bends along the path where you may safely try climbing or balancing in the heights.Form April 2015 the visitors may enjoy a new attraction on the path: the 55-meter-long tunnel slide inside the tower promises an extraordinary experience when sliding down.

Never mind if there is delicate fresh green in spring, striking colours of the forest in autumn or sparkling fresh snow in winter, a walk along the Treetop Walkway is always an impressive experience in the nature.
You may easily get to the Black Forest Mountains Treetop Walkway using the summer mountain railway from Bad Wildbad. There is a special ticket available which includes the fare up and down the mountain plus the entrance to the Treetop Walkway.

Saarschleife Treetop Walk

Since June 2016, a new Treetop Walkway opens new perspective to its visitors in one of the best known tourist destinations in Saarland, the Saarschleife. The highlight of the Treetop Walkway is the 42 metres high view tower, which is unique due to its special architectural form. When you come up along its half-round ramps to the view platform, you are rewarded with a splendid panoramic view on the Saarschleife area and the surrounding countryside of the Saar-Hunsrück natural park.
